Virgil Abloh has openly expressed his obsession with Belguim designer, Raf Simmons. Be that as it may but, when the feeling is not mutual some may call it fashion beef. Virgil took it more as a fashion critique saying, “To me, it was a launchpad to think about what I am doing and why I am doing it—to live with that phrase and recognize what it means.”
The turn of events led his Fall Womenswear Collection to be rightfully named, “Nothing New.” The presentation was a continuation of what was observed in the Menswear and Pre-Fall collections as we were taken deeper into the neck of the woods with the set design.
Surprisingly, this collection showed no signs of graphics or logos which we have seen in every season prior. Instead, there was a soft airiness to the looks featuring lace tops and light atmospheric dresses. This season, Virgil opted for a slightly more mature look with tailored houndstooth suiting and cropped jackets.
The styling of hoodies under plaid coats and classic sneakers with dresses show that Virgil still has one ear to the streets. Overall, this presentation served to be his most cultivated to date.
