A mash-up of glam and streetwear can just about sum up Miu Miu’s Fall Ready to Wear presentation for 2017. It was a joyous show with upbeat music and an immense amount of curly lavender fur covering everything from the staircase to the floor and chairs.
The anti-conformist Miu Miu girl has reached an even higher level of rebellion in this collection. The unlikely pair of plastic and fur meshed together to create one look played closely with boundaries of taste. This maximalist concept is reflective to wave that fashion is currently moving with where bad taste is good taste as long as it is your taste.
As the sister brand of Prada, Miu Miu has always articulated a certain freedom. The indulgence in colorful fur, skimpy dresses, and silk slips gave way for an air of optimism on the runway. An idealized vision of a woman who rocks glitzy jewelry, fur baker boy hats, kaleidoscopic prints and oversized sunglasses all at once came to life this season.
Following the show, Miuccia Prada spoke about the inclusiveness of the collection saying, “It’s about the madness of glamour, in front of an uncertain future. I am getting really interested in so many kinds of beauty.” Glam it up and rock it out is the message to all.
